SACRAMENTO, Calif. - (May 12, 2010) - Responding to Northern California’s growing need for mental health services, Heritage Oaks Hospital is proud to announce its certification today by the California Department of Public Health of 49 additional licensed acute psychiatric beds totaling 125. The newly expanded and fully licensed hospital provides a comprehensive range of inpatient and outpatient psychiatric treatment services to adults, senior adults and adolescents.

“Due to impending state cutbacks, there is a need now more than ever for mental health services in California, especially Sacramento County – our own backyard,” said Jay Kellison, PSI division president. “We opened our geriatric treatment program in January, and now with the expansion, we hope to alleviate some of the strain on mental health services that our county is facing.”

Heritage Oaks Hospital serves all of Northern California from the Central Valley to the Oregon border, primarily Sacramento, El Dorado, Yolo, Placer and San Joaquin counties.

The hospital’s clinical team is composed of full-time psychiatrists, including child and adolescent psychiatrists and a board-certified geriatric psychiatrist.
